The story of two releases and two tweets

Srinagar, Oct 14, KDC: On her release after more than one year long detention, former Chief Minister (CM) of Jammu and Kashmir and President People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti, talked politics, unlike her predecessor as C M, Omar Abdullah, who on his release  had remained apolitical by talking about Covid-19 instead.

Mehbooba was released late Tuesday evening, immediately after government spokesperson Rohit Kansal tweeted that the Public Safety Act (PSA) slapped against her was revoked and she was being released from detention.

Mehbooba was taken into custody during the intervening night of 4th and 5th August, 2019, before Article 370 and 35-A was revoked by Parliament.

Immediately after her release on Tuesday evening, she chose to give, what analysts believe a bold political statement, unlike his counterpart Omar Abdullah, who on his release had said nothing about the reason for which he was detained (revocation of special status of Jammu and Kashmir) and opted to be apolitical by talking about Covid-19.

Abdullah, after his release, after 8 month long (232 days) detention on 24th March 2020, straightway drove to his residence at Gupkar, just at a distance of stone’s throw from Hari Nivas, where he was detained under PSA.

On his arrival at his residence, Abdullah while talking to waiting reporters, avoided all the questions about Article 370 and its revocation and instead talked about Covid-19 pandemic, contrary to the public expectation.

Later in the afternoon Omar took to micro-blogging site twitter.

"Had lunch with my mum and dad for the first time in almost 8 months. I can't remember a better meal even though I've been in a bit of a daze and don't remember what I ate," he tweeted."

Mehbooba Mufti also took to twitter immediately after her release on Tuesday evening; however in quite contrast to Omar, she spoke about Article 370 and its revocation.

In her first address after being released from detention, Mehbooba Mufti said that the decision of abrogation of article-370 had been hurting her heart and soul during every moment of her
